MAINTENANCE AND CARE OF YOUR DECKING SYSTEM

PROPER CARE OF YOUR SYSTEM IS ESSENTIAL IN PRESERVING THE WATERPROOF CHARACTERISTICS.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW CERTAIN GUIDELINES CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM AND TO THE PROPERTY.

THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE OBSERVED

  • It is strongly recommended that exposed areas be resealed every 18 months. Conditions of use such as amount of foot traffic, abrasion due to sand or grit, exposure to the suns ultra-violet rays, etc., will vary the necessity of resealing.
  • Clean periodically as needed. Spot clean any spills immediately with a damp sponge or mop. Mop with clean tap water. Spot clean stains with a dilute mild detergent such as Dawn dish soap. For conditions that require a stronger detergent, use a dilute neutral cleaner such as Ajax Expert Surface Cleaner or Simple Green. Use a soft bristle brush or broom on stubborn areas. If automatic floor scrubbers are used, use extreme caution not to damage the sealed surface.

Rinse well to remove all soap residues, and let surface dry. Do not use solvents or acids.

  • Do not drag heavy appliances across decks.
  • Keep hibachis off decks. Damage can be caused from heat.
  • Staining from planters, especially acid type fertilizers or redwood containers may be reduced by the use of drip plates.
  • Objects with sharp projections or legs can cut into the decking system. Place coasters under such items.

Do not cover surface with carpet as moisture can damage the deck system.
